When Identity Isn’t in Your Pocket

A Thanksgiving reflection on dignity, documents, and the people restoring both. It’s Thanksgiving morning, it’s early, and one question won’t let go:

Who are we when we can’t prove who we are?

In today’s episode, I share a story from Phoenix where we toured the Homeless ID Project — an organization helping people get the most basic documents most of us never think about: ID cards, birth certificates, Social Security cards.

Without these, you can’t get a job.
Can’t get housing.
Can’t even confirm your own name.

This episode is about identity, dignity, and the quiet crisis of people trying to rebuild both.
It’s also a preview of an interview I’m planning with the team behind this powerful mission.

And yes — it’s also Thanksgiving.
So this one comes with gratitude, gravity, and a gentle nudge toward becoming the guide who helps others rise.

If you want the full interview on the podcast, let me know.

Happy Thanksgiving — and yes, I’m grateful I have an ID.
